Alter Ego

So, yesterday Rob and I were out running an errand while I was on a dinner break from work. We picked up some dinner and while waiting for it, we went next door to a bookstore. After awhile, Rob turns to me and says that our food is probably ready and that we should get going, after all, the one people at the store were Captain A.D.D. and SpazBoy (aka: Joel and Alexei). I laughed. But it got me thinking, if I were a superhero (or supervillan) based on my current personality, who would I be? What are my superpowers? Who is my sidekick?
So, after deliberation, I have figured that my alter-ego is... (drum roll.....) Distract-a-Girl, a supervillan. Personality: Easily distracted, and prone to losing things, Distract-a-Girl is attracted is shiny and sparkly objects! Distract-a-Girl's fondness of sparklies, has turned her into a world-reknowned jewel theif. Her super-power of choice: hypno-boobs. She uses her super-power to hypnatize security guards and unsuspecting clerks and salespeople. Her sidekick: Fur Thief, a sable ferret, will steal all the jewels and return them to Distract-a-Girl. Her weapon of choice: yarn. Not only is good for tying up those unaffected by her superpower, but she uses it to tie supplies to herself (lockpics, keys, even Fur Thief).

So, who are you? Leave a comment and tell me! Be creative! Have fun!

Looking for Love (songs)...

Rob and I are looking to make a CD with cool songs (preferably romantic) to play during our luncheon. In turn, I am turning to all of you out there in blogger-land to help us out! Leave me a comment with your suggestions! Thanks!

Happy Spring!

So, the official day of the start of Spring has come and past. And you really wouldn't know it. Yes, the weather is warming up a bit, but still... it's cold, there's still snow on the ground, and very little green. Though today Mel and her roomie Shannon and I all went over to the nature preserve on Ford Lake and walked around, and took pictures, and spotted little signs of spring: mallards courtship dancing, bits of grass peeking through, swamp cabbage flowers blooming, native onions sprouting, and buds starting to show on the willows. Though it was a dreary day, it was nice to know that Spring is slowly on her way. I had fun shooting -- I went through 2 1/2 rolls of film! It was nice to shoot film. I've been doing so much digital lately. We'll see how the pics come out tomorrow.... A couple of swans got nice and close and one was even posing for us! I think they were hoping for food. Next time, I'll have to remember to bring a couple of pieces of bread. We had a nice walk. It was good to get outside and get some exercise after being cooped up all winter. Now Rob and I are about to sit down to a dinner of Chinese food and watch The Manchurian Candidate. Hope the rest of you had a wonderful Spring Equinox, happy Purim, and good Easter days!

Wedding Web Site

I've created a link in the side bar to a webiste with our wedding information on it. Be sure to check it out and keep updated!

Once, apparently, is NOT enough

So, on the drunkenst day of the yet (aka St. Patrick's Day) I had the experience of being in the hospital. Yay. Thursday was a manager's meeting (no, not what made me sick) out at Somerset Mall. So, after the meeting, Carrie meets me out there so we can shop for a bridesmaid dress for her. And, happy to say, we were successful!! However, about halfway through shopping, I started feeling dizzy and weak. I figured I was just tired and had low blood sugar. So, I got a soda, and we continued on our way. However, by the time I was driving home, I had already thrown up the soda, and wasn't sure that I would even have the energy to drive home. Stubborn me, though, drove all the way (when the smart thing to do would have been to drive to my parents -- half the distance!) I was in so much pain, Rob took me to U of M hospital, where I sat in Triage for SIX hours! I was running a fever of 102 and had scary low blood pressure. Finally, I got into a room and had a nurse see me. Then a couple hours later, finally a doctor saw me. Now, while in Triage, they drew blood and had me pee in a cup for them. Standard procedure and such. However, once I got into a room, they wanted to draw blood AGAIN! I have tiny, itty bitty veins that are hard to find! So, I argued "what was wrong with the blood I already gave?" The nurse didn't know that I had already given blood. However, I did not stave them off for long. I had lost enough fluids that they had to give me an IV (Oh, it hurt like a mother-fuck and I bawled like a baby!) and draw blood TWO more times AND have me pee in a cup AGAIN. Worried that I might have appendicitis (I was showing some signs, like the pain and the fever, but my white blood cell count wasn't elevated), they wanted to do a CT Scan. This proved to be problematic, as I am allergic to the iodine IV they give for this. So, they had me drink a nasty solution which made me very sick: my blood pressure dropped even lower and Rob said I turned white. I was in sooo much pain. Well, after managing to keep enough of the nasty solution down, they did a CT scan, eliminated appendicitis as a suspect, and figured that I have a nasty virus. And not the only one in the hospital, apparently. Among the drunks sleeping it off, the poor folks that the drunks hit on the road, there were plenty of people in the fetal position with the same pains as me. It's going around, and it's hitting hard. They kept me overnight (and then some) for obsevation to make sure that I could keep fluids down and the the pain was subsiding. So, finally, I am home. Rob has made me non-chicken soup. He is sooo good to me! I'm going to head off to bed soon. Got to get up and go back to work in the morning.

Sweet!

Welcome Home!

Well, Rob and I are suckers for cute, fuzzy critters. Yesterday, while running errands, we stopped at the local petstore for a quick look around. Well, they had just got some baby rats in, and they are adorable!! I smiled and told Rob that we need baby rats. To my surprise, he said "Ok." So, without planning on having them, and not needing any more pets, we now have three little ratties: Zanzabar, Zoe, and ZigZag (see the pictures I posted). The employees seemed happy that we were taking them home to be pets and that they weren't going to end up being snake food. Three little girls (we think they're girls, anyway; they all look the same, but they weren't old enough yet for the boys' bits to have dropped). Rob is so happy! He just loves little rodents! And I'm geeked to have ratties again! Yay!

The little ratty butts, scared in their box after their trip home. They're all happy and bouncy now (though ZigZag is still a little scared).

Zanzabar, a friendly little agouti blaze, who first caught my attention.

Zoe, our little "cow" rat.

Happy Birthday Rob!

Today is Rob's Birthday! After work I took him to Chili's for dinner. We ate waaaay too much! We're bursting with molten chocolate cakey goodness! Yum! Dinner ended up being on Chili's: I ordered the black bean burger (my fav), but it didn't look or taste the same as before, so I asked whether they changed burgers. Turns out they ran out of their regular burgers, and their shipment doesn't come until tomorrow, so they ran out to get some so they'd have some. I had a couple of bites already when I found this out, so I asked whether or not they had mushrooms in it. They did. And I'm allergic. The manager came by, apologized, let me know who their insurance is through in case I need to go to the doctor's, and they took care of our bill. Since I only had a couple bites, the benadryl I took when I got home seems to be working fine so far. I was really impressed with how they took care of us. Now Rob and I are being lazy bums on the couch digesting the all too much food we ate.

Well, we're off to slept. 'Night.

Grrrrr... Snark.... Blargh.... Snap.... Twitch...

It's been that kind of past two days. I've been ready to just about bite anybody's head off. Every little noise, every little squeak of the print machine, beep of the complaining print-to-print, ring of the telephone and then incessant chatter of of some insipid on the other line... UGH! It's no wonder I haven't killed a customer yet. No more caffeine when I'm PMSing! Ohhhhh, no.... And now that PMA is over, I know that customers will now start coming in and wanting to see and possibly even purchase these new cameras. And I'll be able to show them these new delights.... ohhhhhh, hold on a minute there missy! Have you forgotten which store you work at? New products?!? Hahahahahahahhahahaha. And the best part is, after perusing dpreview.com for the scoop, I don't really see all that much to get excited over. Yeah, Canon's new 8 megapixel Digi Rebel is nice, but other than that? Just last year's and the year before's same-old-same-old repackaged in a nice new shiny box with more megapixels (no more twos or even threes out there). Same shit, different day. HERE'S THE DEAL FOLKS: MEGAPIXELS REALLY DON'T MEAN DIDDLEYSQUAT! That's right. When you print out your 4"x6" picture from your point and shoot digital camera with its tiny lens and tiny processor, you won't be able to see the difference between a seven and five or even a three! That's my k'vetch and I'm sticking to it.
