Too early

It's 5:30 in the morning, it's still dark outside, and no human should be up at this ungodly hour (my husband will point out, however, that he is up at this time every day for work. I don't know how he does it!) Today is bird show day. I really need to go get dressed. I don't think it's proper etiquette to sell birds in your pjs. Bah. Since when have I cared about etiquette?!? My goal: SELL MY LOVEBIRDS!!! Your goal: BUY NAARAH'S LOVEBIRDS!!! (Yes! I can feel my powers of persuasion working through the internet! bwahahahahaha!!) In other news: I'm a Ritz manager again. At the store on Eisenhower in Ann Arbor. AGAIN. Yup, it's like being thrown into the deep end and not knowing how to swim and the lifequard (ie, David Ritz) doesn't care. Or know how to swim himself.

One Week

It's finally hit me. The time, one week from now, I will disembarking a plane into sunny San Diego. Wow. This is a big trip. It's not just an ordinary go visit my friend in Cali for a few days trip. We're driving cross-country. This is a big deal to me; I not well-traveled. I've been to Florida, Georgia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Las Vegas on vacation. That's it. And my first time west anywhere west of Chicago was 2 years ago when Rob and I flew to Vegas for Tammy and Tom's wedding. This is going to be so cool. I've mapped out our trip home and all kinds of cool places (Bryce Canyon, Dinosaur National Monument.....) But there's still so much to do. And a week is just not enough time. Not to mention there's a bird show in the middle of it all! Bird show is Saturday. It's a good thing. I can get the lovebirds out of my apartment and get my kitchen table back. It just doesn't leave me with much time to pack and prepare for the trip. Yes, I have today. And I will get started. But I have so much else to do in my day off today too: go to Target (need essentials, like deodorant), go to Pet Supplies Plus (the critters gots to eat), clean up the apartment (I've got people coming over to see lovebirds before the show), clean critter cages (that's really a subset of clean the apartment), do laundry (clean underewear and socks are so overrated, no?), and of course, I cannot forget, go to AAA and get a triptik made. I should make myself a list of stuff to bring with me on the trip so that I don't forget anything. Ugh. I did decide to make things a little bit easier on myself and not enter Token and Pixel in the ferret show on May 6. If the show was the weekend after, it would've worked out ok. But I'll be just getting back from Cali. It's just too much to deal with. I think. I mean, I really wanted to show them before I took them to get fixed. Ugh. Decisions! My head is spinning! But for now, I really ought to get going and start me day by feeding baby birds....

Another Monday

So, yesterday was Easter. Aside for a guilt-free day off work (yay! days off work!), Rob and I spent the day at his mom's. We had a nice time. And we ate so much. Oh, so much food. (But isn't that kindof the point behind holidays? Family, friends and more food than one should be able to eat?) I must remember to stop by Rite Aid on the way home and pick up some of those chocolate covered marshmallow eggs (mmmmmmm..... spun sugar!); now that the holiday is over -- another cheap chocolate day is upon us!

Saturday I spent my day doing nothing. Pretty much literal, there. I needed hours at work and Stever, the manager of the Southfield store, called and asked if I could help out. Ritz is closing that location and pretty much all his employees have quit on him. Great, huh? So, I drive out to Southfield, walk into the store, and nothing! Absolutely nothing on the shelves. All the merchandise had already been transferred to other locations. Wow. It was so bare! And absolutely pointless for us to be there. What could we sell? Nothing. The processors were all shut down, so no printing film. Just sit on our asses and tell customers, hey, sorry, we're closing, but please go visit one of our other stores!

Well, crap. Speaking of work, I need to feed baby birds (yes, there are more of them.... don't even ask) and finish getting ready for work. Rob got a nail in one of his tires yesterday, so he has a flat he needs repaired. Driving home from Fenton on a "donut." Fun. He's taking my car to work, and I'm getting a lift from Joel. So, I should get my ass up and get moving.

Hope everyone had a good Easter, Passover, fluffy egg-laying bunny, or what-ever-it-is holiday you choose to celebrate day!!

Dagda
Indeed, you are 75% erudite, 79% sensual, 70% martial, and 75% saturnine.
More properly known as The Dagda, he was the Earth Deity-Father of both Gods and men. In this respect he was the Celtic equivalent to Cronus or Zeus of the ancient Greeks.

Being the Earth God meant that he controlled the orderly passage of seasons. This cycle was maintained through the guiding melodies produced by a magical harp only The Dagda could play. Since an Earth God is sort of a personification of matter and "stuff," The Dagda owned something called the Undry which was a gigantic pot of abundance filled with an infinite supply of "stuff."

One of The Dagda's many names meant "Good God”, but "good" in the sense of being good at doing things. He was a jack-of-all-trades, skilled and accomplished in all his endeavours. Well, for the most part. Apparently his imagination wasn't all that "good" - when his wife bore him three daughters in succession he named each one of them Brigit.

Road Tripping

Yesterday Tammy and I drove to almost Cleveland and back. Why? For a bird trade. I give three, I get one plus cage and toys. Works for me. The bird in question, a senegal parrot, is currently making herself comfortable on my knee, and pictured to the left. Her name is Pookie. Well, I don't know for sure that she's a she. She could be a he. I need to get her DNA tested. Either way, the name Pookie has got to go. Suggestions?

And speaking of road trips, I might be making one cross country. My friend Ella, who currently resides in lovely San Diego, California, is moving back to Michigan. She asked if I would fly out to Cali and drive back to Michigan with her. Hmmmmmm.... yup. Ok. Sounds like fun to me. Really. Not a hard choice. Ella and I vacationed together before; we went to Chicago a few years back. Had a blast. Besides, I've never been to California, or Utah, or Colorado (all cool states that we'll have to drive through to go home... I'm ignoring Nebraska, it's going to be boring and well, I've been in Illinois). I'm thinking if I leave on a Weds, and am back by the following Weds, I can still get enough hours in at work that I can probably afford to go (No vacation time for me: I'm part time again, remember? :P ). If I don't get hours in at work, I can't afford to go. Which would suck, because I want to go. I'm hoping that I can sell off the rest of these baby lovebirds, because then I'll have extra spending cash. I'll bring money for food and all, but extra money for chachkies would be nice. Not to mention, going through Utah (Bryce Canyon National Park) and Colorado (Mountains!), another memory card couldn't hurt. Yes, I can take that many pictures. You should know this by now. Stop rolling your eyes!
Well, I ought to feed baby birds, get dressed, and get ready for work. As much as I'd love to stay home in my pj's all day, sigh, gotta go make money. Oh! Hahahaha! I'm funny. Like I make any money at my job. Ow. Laughing that hard hurts.
