It's a mutt, not a designer dog
Here's my gripe of the day: shorkies. WTF is a shorkie, you ask? Apparently a $600 shi-tzu/yorkie mix. Know what I call that? A mutt! It's a mutt! It's not a "designer dog," it's a good, old fashioned mutt. Goldendoodles, Cockachons, and Pugapoos are not purebreds, I don't care what you call them or how much you charge for them! I have nothing against mutts. My parents dog, Phoebe, is a mutt. She's 3/4 Chihuahua and 1/4 miniature poodle. But she's a mutt (an absolutely adorable mutt, mind you!) Mixing breeds to help get rid of breed-specific ailments I understand. But I think most of these breeders are just making shit up. In the pet store I saw a book on labradoodles. Labradoodles are now their own breed! It just bugs me that people are trying to get purebred money for mixed-breed dogs. 20 years ago if your neighbor's horny beagle schtooped your chihuahua and you had puppies, you'd put an ad in the paper that read "free puppies to good home; chihuahua/beagle mix." Today you'd ask $750 to be the first on your block to own a cheagle.
If you'd like pretend to be a mad-geneticist, you can find a list of all the current designer dogs HERE.
I'm a big enough dork that when I get a dog, I think it'd be appropriate if I got a Dorkie. ;)

Not that I specifically wanted a designer dog we are the proud parent's of a deisgner dog a shorkie in fact. BUT I agree she is a mutt and not a breed of her own. I do tell people she is a shorkie because they usually ask. I just wanted a little dog and she happened to steal my heart.
btw anonymous is Lisa Kay nka Lisa Rutteberg, I had to write since you mentioned shorkies. I love my shorkie to death. YES I know she's a mutt but she looks way more shorkie than MUTT!!!
