Back Home... Again

Well, Rob and I are finally back from our anniversary trip to Niagara Falls. We stayed on the Canada side in the Brock Hotel. We had a lovely view from our room:












The first day there, we walked along the Falls drive. It was cold and drizzly. Hmmmm... kindof remniscant of our wedding day. ;P That night, because it was Victoria Day, they set fireworks off over the falls.

The next day we did all the fun, touristy stuff. We purchased a Great Gorge Adventure Pass. The Journey Behind the Falls and the Maid of the Mist were lots of fun. We got soaked!














Then, Tuesday night, we saw Cirque Niagara. Oh. My. God. So cool. It was absolutely stunning. Not a bad seat in the house. Well, actually tent. Yup, the circus was in a tent. Like the old days. It was a fairly small and intimate setup. The only real difference between the pricey seats and the "cheap" seats were that the pricey seats were padded folding chairs and the "cheap" seats were fold down benches (think what you sat in your high school gymnasium for pep rallies and stuff). Ok, so the benches were narrow, but the seats were awesome. The show was awesome. If you make it up to Niagara this year, this is a must see! And don't bother paying for the expensive seats. Just bring a pillow to sit on for the benches. (sorry, no pictures of the circus, they were very strict about no photography. The don't want the horses spooked by flash, or an acrobat falling flat on his face or anything).

After Cirque Niagara, we parked back at the hotel and walked along Falls Dr. and took in the beautiful falls lit up at night. It was quiet and peaceful. Not many people were out, the city was lit up, the only sounds were that of the rushing falls and the clean smell of water permaeted the air. It was gorgeous.



























Weds, our final day there, we went to the Niagara Falls Aviary, where we saw all kinds of neat birds from around the world and feed Rainbow Lorikeets. One of the areas was a nocturnal exhibit, and they had bats!! My pictures didn't really turn out, it being so dark and all. But still -- bats!! How cool! And while in the aviary, one of the birds (I later found out to be a Sisa, thought my shoelaces might be food, or maybe nesting material, and proceeded to tug on them). He was very friendly and I got some nice pics of him.











































Our last Niagara stop was at the Butterfly Conservatory. The Conservatory was actually part of a large botanical gardens! If I had known this, I would have reserved a whole day just to see the butterflies and the gardens. As it was, we spent a great deal of time watching the butterflies! As soon as you walk in, there were butterflies everywhere! I swear, more than at the butterfly houses I've been to before!
















































And now, after a long drive, Rob and I are home, relaxing. Tomorrow, life goes back to it's usual routine.
