For the Birds

I know it's been awhile since I've last posted. I've been really busy. Last Saturday we had a bird show in Warren, MI. We (my mother and I) took a lot of lovebirds to sell. We sold most of the birds, but not all of them, unfortunately. So, there's still more lovebirds, if anybody wants one! :-)

In other news, Rob has a nasty headcold. Poor guy (and poor Naarah, because the head cold means he snores that much louder! Oy!) I hope I don't get it. I can't afford to be sick.

21,1001

Those of you who know Carrie, I am sure are very familiar with the term "Fuck-A-Doodle-Do." It's one of Carrie's hallmark phrases. Personally, I'm partical to "Fucktarded," which I picked up from Rob. Anway, Rob did a google search on fuck-a-doodle-do, and guess what? He came up with 21,100 hits! Most were blogs and the like, but seriously, 21,100 hits! And now, one more, of course. It's a really popular term.

Halloween is Sunday! Yay! My favorite holiday! I'm dressing up for work, of course. Saturday night some of us might go to Joel's bar. There's a costume contest; it should be fun. We won't be staying late. Both Rob and I have to work the next day. Rob may stay home though, he's feeling pretty yucky.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

The Isle of Lost Socks

My day started out with my digging through the basket of clean laundry looking for a pair of matching black socks. Who knew that there are so many shades of black! Seriously, half a dozen individual "black" socks, none of which matched. Serves me right for leaving my clean laundry in the basket instead of putting it away. Had I put it away, I may have had an easier time finding those matching socks. Now, mind you, I could have gone with white socks, but then I would have looked even dorkier than I already am, because black pants, black shoes, and white socks really is the epitome of dorkiness (while sitting in front of my computer telling a bunch of folks out in internet-land about my sock search this morning is not dorky at all. Nope. Not in the least.)

Now, I am sitting here, at the end of the day, taking a break from photoshopping some pics for Katie. Katie is getting a chap book of her poetry published (yay! Go Katie!) and she has asked me to do the cover art for her and take her portrait for the back cover. I've finally finished what I think will be a cool cover. Tomorrow I'm meeting with Katie and we'll see if it passes the ultimate test (it is, after all, her book). All I have left to do now is just rotate about 20 more portraits and then convert them to black and white. While it's really brainless work, it's time consuming and somewhat mind-numbing. But, it's gots to be done. I'd like to have them all on CD for Katie tomorrow so she can just pick which one she likes best. So, I shall trudge on. But first, some dinner! Rob is making me stuffed eggplant! YUM! I can smell it and it smells absolutely delicious!

I'm thinking this weekend I'll work on a website for my photography. I haven't finished the website for the birds, mind you, but I think I'll start a new one anyway. :-P What can I say, I really am like a ferret, I have a 2-second attention span and sparklie and shiny things distract me. And now, I shall go and finish my photoshopping endeavor. Or maybe I'll actually put my clean laundry away... nah, now that would require effort!

Another Day, Another Dollar...

God I'm tired! I've been fighting off a head cold for I don't know how long! It's that time of year. I'm going to be feeling this way all winter. Ugh! Good news is that my asthma is good for something: I will be eligible to get a flu shot. I find this shocking as even Rob, who works in a hospital, is not eligible to get one this year due to the shortage (apparently only people in direct contact with the sick will be eligable, meaning doctors and nurses. And Rob doen't have direct contact with the patients, only the doctors and nurses who see the sick people!) I need a day off where I can just stay home and sleep. Ha! That's funny! With the holdiay season approaching all too quickly (can you believe it's over half-way through October?! Where the hell did summer go? And seriously, with this weather, we didn't even get fall!) I'll be working even more hours and getting even less sleep. Ugh. And not even getting paid more for it (got to love salary positions). I know, I know, gripe, gripe, gripe. But I do have some good news: I picked out my wedding dress! Finally! And my mother even liked it too! I know, shocking, my mother and I agreed on something!

Out and About...

Sunday Rob and I went out to see Tammy and Tom. On the way we stopped over by 12 Oaks Mall and picked up our copy of Aladdin that I preordered. Unfortunately, the Disney Store in Briarwood has closed. While we were at the mall, we stopped by the Jessica McClintock store and I tried on some wedding dresses and narrowed down my potential choices. Despite some's beliefs (see Tammy's blog) Rob survived the ordeal! We them drove to Tammy and Tom's and saw the progress on the basement. I love the built-in bookshelves. Very cool! And they chose a great carpet. Then we wanted to go to Parmenter's Cider Mill in Northville, but there was some kind of craft show going on, so we just milled around for a little bit, then left. The line for cider was huge, so we decided not to get any. On the way back to their house, we saw signs for a corn maze and decided to go. The maze was at the Maybury State Park and the proceeds from going through the maze went to help rebuild the barn that burned down last year. There was a hayride to and from the maze. In the maze there were markers that you had to find to complete the maze. We found the end before we found all the markers. We didn't find the rabbit or the black cat. Oh well. It was fun anyway. I've attached pictures from the day below. Afterwards we went to dinner at Stout, an Irish pub, in Brighton. It had a nice atmosphere, and there was a live band playing when we arrived (well, two guys with guitars anyway). Not much in the way of vegetarian fare, and not surprisingly, there was potatoes in pretty much everything! (Carrie, you woud HATE it!) There was even potato salad hidden in the salad! Weird! I was pre-warned of this though, and order the salad sans-potato. I like potatoes mind you, but just not in my salad. And potato salad is kindof icky. :-P I should be getting off to bed soon. 'Night.

Pink Tennis Shoe Blues

The other day Rob and I were over at Arborland and we stopped in at DSW. I was hoping to find a pair of sandals similar to a pair that just died on me this year. The entire bottoms of the soles cracked in half. Well, while perusing the clearance section I found a pair of pink tennis shoes. Yes, I said PINK tennis shoes. What every girl needs, don't you think? Well, I restrained myself from buying them. Why? Well, First of all, they're pink. Second, I already own a pair of tennis shoes. Third, they're too casual for work. Fourth, they were $40 -- and that was the sale price! And fifth, I didn't get paid for another few days, and only had like $15 to my name until payday. However, payday having arrived, and my bills paid, the pink tennis shoes call to me. Alas, like many things that are completely impractical, I MUST HAVE THEM! What do you think -- a lovely white wedding gown with pink tennis shoes will be tres chick, no? So now, in order to get my mind off of the shoes, I am going to go and make chocolate chip cookies. No, not from scratch. You should know me better than that! I'm spooning the dough onto a tray and putting it in the oven! Talented, huh? :-) And speaking of things I don't need, I'm thinking of buying another digital camera. Joel's selling his Olympus 750, a 4 megapixel, 10x optical zoom. I don't really "need" it, but, why should that dictate anything? I don't need cable TV or chocolate, ok, I do need chocolate, but that's beside the point. For example, in my previous post is a link to a website full of stuff that we don't need, but seriously, wouldn't an airzooka be just way too cool? Ok, the kitchen buzzer has beeped, which means my cookies should be done, which means that I'm going to stop blabbering and go and eat fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies.

Must-Have-Lucky-Charms-

Seriously, they're addicting. The government shouldn't be worried about kids smoking pot. The problem is damn Lucky Charms! I don't think they're coated in sugar, let me tell you.... So, in between munching these damn addicting little pieces of marshmallow and toasted oat goodnes, I am agaain watching the debates. Well, sort-of. It's really background noise. I find Rob's nasty remarks to monkey-boy's lack of answers more interesting. And yes, I do mean lack of answers. I don't think he has directly answered a question directed to him. It's like he's reading off of note cards! At least there aren't as many deafening silences while the dumbass contemplates his answers. He just dives right in this time -- not on topic mind you. Right now, for example, the shrub was just asked to explain how he plans to cut the deficit in half. And he did not answer it. He directly avoided it. I'm not sure which direction he went in. But then again, he is in his own little world. And is it just me, or is monkey boy's face as red as a baboon's ass?

That's my rant for the night. I'm going to go do something worthwhile with my time other than watch this. I'm going to go read my novel. Or watch Monk.

Ciao.

Zooooooom!

Cable came today and successfully installed cable and our cable modem! Now we can zip across the world wide web while watching crisp television with even more channels to choose from that we probably won't watch! But hey, now we have Sci-Fi! Woohoo! And Rob and I are covered in cockatiels who are chewing on our earrings and sassing us! Currently Rob has Farscape on the TV. It is really strange. Well, we have errands to run. Until Later!

Go Me!

While so entirely engrossed in the political rhetoric of the vp debates, I figured out how add links to my friend's blogs in the sidebar! Woohoo! Now, dear readers, you can not only engross yourself in the daily idle musings of yours truly, but also those of my like-minded compadres! I rock!

Same Ole, Same Ole...

Rob and I are sitting here watching Last Comic Standing. I know it's been awhile since I've last posted. Let me explain. I actually tried to post Thursday while watching the presidential debates. However, I stupidly hit the back button on the blogger browser, and lost everything I wrote. So, here I am, the VP debates starting, hoping to actually get an entire entry completed. I will say, I have high hopes for this debate. Cheney being part cyborg should thus be able actually answer questions without half of the "response" being hemms, haws, and dead air (unlike monkey-boy president). Seriously, last week, W could not have appeared any dumber (well, actually, I'm sure he could have. He is pretty stupid). And is it just me, or does he look constipated any time he "pauses to think?"

Tomorrow Comcast is coming out again. Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon we will have cable and a cable modem. We'll see. I'm not too optimistic, as it's been two weeks since we actually ordered cable and had someone come out initially and unsuccessfully install "cable."

Well, I'm going to sign out for the night, sit and watch the debates, read my book, and eat Lucky Charms (this is my latest of cravings. I have been eating Lucky Charms for breakfast and snack-time food for over a month. You'd think I'd be sick of them yet....)

'Night.
